VSECU
Why bank when you can VSECU?
VSECU is a locally owned not for profit banking alternative for all Vermonters. We are the first state chartered financial institution in Vermont to offer credit union membership to every Vermonter. A variety of deposit and lending products are available to you as a member, to meet all your financial needs and goals. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff take great pride in servicing our member owners. We have created this short video explaining some of the differences between VSECU and a bank.
What’s In It For Me?
- You are an owner of the credit union.
- You won’t be banking with a bank.
- You enjoy the benefit of profits – not some outside stockholder.
- You get better rates on loans and deposit products.
- You pay less fees compared to most banks.
- You get to vote for your Board of Directors.
- You are a member of a cooperative – people helping people.
- You are eligible for free AD&D Insurance.
- And best of all is Member Rewards – the more you do business with your credit union, the more you will save!
At VSECU everybody who lives or works in Vermont is eligible for membership!
That’s great news for all Vermonters who want a local financial institution to meet all the banking needs one could possibly have with the benefits of being a credit union member.
In addition to being a resident of Vermont, you can join if you are an employee of certain employer groups or related to an existing member, even if you live out-of-state. And remember, once a member always member, regardless of where you live.

We Are a Not For Profit Banking Cooperative
That’s a mouthful and we know that most people don’t really think about the significance of our structure when looking for the best banking options. But it really is our structure – being member-owned cooperatively and existing not to make a profit – that enables us to be a better banking option for you.
In a nutshell, the profit we make goes back to our membership in the form of higher deposit rates, lower loan rates, and lower fees. Add on top of that our desire to treat you right and do what’s right for you – not our bottom line – makes us a great place to do your banking!
Our History
